DO NOTE that this is early beta and if you decide to install it then do make backups of your important data and perferably a full hard drive image as it may crash, this is normal for betas. SO installing this is your own choice as these releases are aimed at testers and developers, who generally install betas on none production machines, so if you only have one main PC its advisable not to install a beta.

Do read the release notes above as they are very important as they highlight the software that is not currently compatible with IE8beta

XP users with SP3 RC will have to uninstall the RC, before applying a couple small updates (receive an install error otherwise).

Played with it yesterday & like most betas- it has a few (<?) noticeable bugs. Shows promise in some areas.

Take the advice above on staying safe & having back-ups etc.

Nah, you just didn't expect it to be at the bottom of page 2.

Not a lot of excitement over this one.

Dont think there will be much excitement for a few days or until the weekend when many have more time to read that its out and take the chance of installing to test it, really needs to get to an RC stage to see any significant changes as its just pretty much as IE7 is for now,

Manage add-ons has got a nicer GUI to it, with a bit more explanation of what the add-on is and who made it.

    Still needs a download manager.

I notice that anyone can view and vote on the IE bugs on Connect, just cannot add your own found bug though into the tech beta, unless you post on the IE Newsgroup.

I found it nice that it can import from Firefox, Opera, and Safari.

I found it very interesting that firefox extensions are in that list. Im thinking thats a typo, surely.

Im currently more excited about Office Live Workspace, if they can fix the problems it has now. Especially that the online viewer/editor drops back to Office 2003 compatibility, making any sharing I do worthless, unless the party has Office 2007, and most the people I know do not.

Then there is the fact that saving a doc to OLW makes it read only, and have to save it as something else locally.
