I am working on a Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop, it has Windows Vista and I am using Internet Explorer 8 as my browser. Everytime I try to go to my Facebook page, IE8 crashes. I can go to any other website and it does not crash. It's not a problem with FB because I can access my FB account on any other computer and it does fine. Could this be malware on my laptop causing this problem? I have uninstalled IE8, and tried using IE7 and it did the same thing. I have reinstalled IE8. I have recently installed Windows Service Pack 2. After I installed that, I kept getting an error message saying, "Unable to locate AppleSyncNotifier.exe". Ever since I installed SP2, i've been having problems. Thank you for any help with this matter.

Thanks for responding so quickly Tim, I am in the process of doing just as you asked. I am up to the part where you clean up your Add/Remove Programs by checking the list and I only had one thing to remove. I also removed Limewire and Limewire toolbar. When I restarted my comp, I got this message:

    Address a problem with Bonjour
    Bonjour has stopped working properly.

The name of the file that caused this problem is mDNSResponse.exe.

Don't know if this is relevant or not, just keeping you posted. I will move forward with the list, unless told otherwise. Thanks! You guys are truly the best!

    Misty

BTW, I have no clue what Bonjour is, I did not remove anything saying Bonjour. :confused

We will see if we can correct that when you attach the requested logs. ;)

Ok, I am having problems saving the Mgtools to C:/MGtools.exe. It says I need the administrators permission. I have been saving the rest of them to the desktop. This last one wanted it to be saved specifically to C:, I figured it meant to log off and log back in as a guest maybe? But when I log off, it does not give me the option to log back on as a guest or anything. :-o

If you can't slide it onto your C: drive, then leave it on your desktop and run it from there. ;)

Do not use the Guest account.

I have run everything as requested, my computer seems to be running fine so far. I was able to get onto Facebook without it crashing. There were several infections and malware found that have been taken care of. I have re-enabled the User Account. I also cleared the system restore points. I had to uninstall my AVG to run combofix. Now that everything is said and done, should I reinstall AVG? I read your suggestions on keeping my comp clean and free of viruses, I didn't see AVG listed as an option. Should I reinstall AVG or go with what you have suggested on your page? Thanks for all your help!

    Sincerely,

    Misty :)

So far things look good, but I would still like to see the log from running MGTools. Did you get it to run? What happened if you didn't. Can you run it in safe mode?

One more thing, I just ran a diagnostics test upon boot up on the audio on this laptop and I was able to hear the melody it played from all three speakers. This laptop has SB Xtreme Audio Notebook on it. Thanks!

You attached the wrong log. I need the C:\MGLogs.zip.
