    Hi,

since 2 days now i've been having these problems with ieframe.dll and InetCpl.cpl.
Everytime I try to runn my virusscanner, spybot search and destroy or whatever program.. I get these errors.

At first I thought It was just a mallware problem, but now I'm not so sure anymore.
And since this is the only website I trust enough to ask..

How can I fix these problem? Please let me know (ofcourse in a way without having to pay for programs like RegisterSmart or something like that..)

I am still having problems with both Ieframe.dll and InetCpl.cpl
I have since the 14th (2 days before my first post) tryed to download the Ieframe.dll and InetCpl.cpl from a dll website www.dll-files.com
The problems were over for 1 day.. But when I started my computer the next day.. everything was resetted.

Since then I keep having updates from Windows EVERYday when I start my computer. Everytime when I install that update, I restart my pc and when it's all started up.. I have the SAME update again..

Meaning: Securityupdate for Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP

I'm starting to think I have some sort of a virus/mallware.. Perhaps this is a job for Chaslang?

Hopefully someone can help me before turning to the Mallware forum part.

    Dear Chaslang,

I do not know if this is a mallware problem, that is why I am posting this thread here. I know you can't do much without seeing my files, but I want to save you allot of time in the case of this not being a mallware problem.

I would like to redirect you to the link at the bottom of this thread.

That is on the Networking forum, but I have been waiting for approxamatly 10 days and I have recieved no answer or reply on my problem, so perhaps nobody knows how to either solve this or that it is not solvable. That is why I am turning to you for help.

If you, after reading the above and viewing the link, think this is not a Mallware problem but you do know how to solve this. Then I would be most thankfull! But if you, after reading the above and viewing the link, think this IS a mallware problem, then I will follow the Read&Run me first thread, although I can not use my virusscanner (Norton Antivirus 2005, updated everytime), Spybot Search and Destroy and probally other scanners.. thus making my problem a little more difficult.

Also something that might be wise to say, is that I do not use Internet Explorer. I use Mozilla Firefox, because I think it is safe and better looking(Although Internet Explorer copied the interface of Firefox onto their own Internet Explorer.. basterds).

In the hope of getting a reply from u soon, I greet you.

    Mike

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

The only item that you mentioned that is of concern to us in the malware forum is why you cannot run your antivirus program. Your other issues do not sound like malware but malware can cause all kinds of problems. Windows Update has dozens of reasons for not properly updating (most not due to malware).

Vague statements like Ieframe.dll//InetCpl.cpl problems are not helpful. Exact details and exact word for word error messages or the log from the program (Spybot) are required.

It would be best if you ran the READ ME and attached all the logs.

Those images still seem to imply non-malware issues which could be topics that belong in the Software Forum. We will know more when we see the logs from the READ & RUN ME but right now your problems appear to be more Windows OS related.

I've done as much as I could.

3 Times I had troubles with Bitdefender, because it froze up (Internet Explorer froze up..).
And after everytime that I installed Internet Explorer and restarted pc after being shutdown for a couple of hours, I had to complete reinstall Internet Explorer.
But I could not run PandaActiveScan unfortonally.
Tomorrow I'm on vacation for a week Friday - Friday. But after that I shall be able to answer to your questions.

Perhaps you should just uninstall IE 7 and leave it uninstalled. Just use version 6. That will probably resolve your problems.

You must rename HijackThis.exe to analyse.exe as requested in step 7 of the READ ME and then do the below before attach a new log.

Run HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = http://search.bearshare.com/sidebar.html?src=ssb
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://search.bearshare.com/sidebar.html?src=ssb
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://search.bearshare.com/sidebar.html?src=ssb
    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {D3DEE18F-DB64-4BEB-9FF1-E1F0A5033E4A} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_01\bin\jusched.exe"
    O16 - DPF: {193C772A-87BE-4B19-A7BB-445B226FE9A1} (ewidoOnlineScan Control) - http://download.ewido.net/ewidoOnlineScan.cab

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete the below files:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Michael\Local Settings\Temp\e99xb7u8.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Michael\Local Settings\Temp\np12.tmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\Michael\Local Settings\Temp\npA.tmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\Michael\Local Settings\Temp\npE.tmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\Michael\Local Settings\Temp\npF.tmp

    Now run Ccleaner

Now we need to Reset Web Settings:
    1. If you have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, goto step 2. If not, skip to step 3.
    2. Now right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then click the Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK. Then skip step 3.
    3. If you do not have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, click Start, Control Panel (for some systems it may be Start, Settings, Control Panel), Internet Options, Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK.
Note for IE 7 users: You need to select Internet Options then the Advanced tab and then Reset Internet Explorer Settings!

    Now reboot in normal mode
Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. GetRunKey
    2. ShowNew
    3. HJT

Make sure you tell me how things are working now! I don't believe any of the above had anything to do with your problems, but it needed to be don.

In a couple of hours I'm going on Vacation. I'm just happy you were with me this fast! But like you stated already, this fixing has nothing to do with my problems.

I'm sorry for not following that part. It must have slipped my eyes. I have done it now.

I deinstalled Internet Explorer 7 and changed my Windows Update check to give me an announcement of a update, but do nothing. So I won't keep getting this annoying Internet Explorer 7 updates, while I do not have IE7. I never had problems with Internet Explorer 6. So i'll keep it as your tip provided me.

Every step went alright. I followed every advice and thing you gave/told me to do. Except for the homepage. It's set to google, since I always use google.

But I do have a question or two: Is it possible to change the amount of programs started at bootup without changing my booting mode (From normal to whatever mode). Because it takes quite a while to load all these programs.
Should I just deinstall them? (I probally will need most of them). Or is there a program that lets me manage startups.
And can I delete the fixME.reg file at my desktop? Or should I move it to a other place?

Furthermore my guess is that I should pack my things and move to the software forum part, since you already said in the beginning that my problems are software related. But I will wait untill you tell me I'm ready.

Thank you for all your time and efford invested in my problem.
I will 'see' you in a week.

    Michael

First you should decide what you need and don't need and uninstall anything you don't need. Then you should stop running things you don't need to run at startup by looking for options within the program that say something like load when Windows starts. For example, you don't need to run Ccleaner each time you boot your PC. Run it when you want to run it. Like weekly.

You also don't need Windows Messenger (do not confuse it with MSN Messenger which is different). Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger.

For anything else you want to be able to control, use this: Startup CPL

But did uninstalling IE7 change your problems?

Since you do not have malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    2. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    3. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Dear Chaslang, I've just came back from my Vacation and I notice that untill this very moment I've not had any problems.
I indeed uninstalled IE7 and I removed Norton 2005 and replaced it with AVG-scanner and a-squared free.

Also I followed each and every step you told me to do in your last post.
    Including managing startup.
My pc is MUCH faster now.
    Thank you so much!
