Ok guys, i figured here was best for this as it may affect more than just me.

I found out recently that if you bought a pc from a major brand name dealer AFTER June 25th of 2009 you MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR FREE WIN 7 UPGRADE.

I bought my pc before but i will be contacting Dell to see if i can get in on this deal somehow.

The details are here for those who never knew.

I was bummed that I had purchased Our HP on 06/22, and they sold me an upgrade disc anyway.

I have not installed it yet.

They would have sold me one too for 120. I bought mine a month before. My wifes just gonna get me a copy through her school account. she already got one for herself from work.

    will cost me half.

Beware of upgrades, especially OEM's. A friend just went through a nightmare upgrading from Vista to W7. Back-up anything important first, which you anyways do.;)

True stuff. Bought the wife an HP lappy last year, and got a coupon for a free upgrade to Win 7 Home Premium.

I just had to provide proof of purchase (scan of my receipt) and scans of the box labels (all in .jpg format) and about eight weeks later I got the upgrade kit in the mail.

Upgrade went without a hitch, also. Only flag was a suggestion that I uninstall a few programs that didn't pass the compatibility test (all games) and re-install them after the upgrade was finished. Having backed up the Vista configuration to DVD (as everyone who buys a new computer should do . . . it takes a while, but it's worth it folks) I ignored the suggestion, and installed Win 7 anyway. No problems or glitches - and for that matter the games play fine.

Been working like a champ ever since.
