If You Had A Blank Check To Buy Any Vehicle, What Would You Get?

Hey DOA over here only big lead acid batteries are recycled but it is a diminishing return so they find it is cheaper to scrap them and pay the toxic landfill charges levied for toxic waste.
This practice is widespread throughout Australia.
The area I live was a pioneer, twenty five years ago, when it introduced mandatory recycling and issued half size rubbish bins for things going to landfill and full sized bins for recycling to encourage you to recycle as much as possible......now with the free trade agreements and globalisation it is cheaper to dump glass and plastic in landfill and import new bottles from overseas and the same is also happening with recycling plastics, electronic equipment and paper.
This was a program on ABC Four Corners with an expose and report naming names and companies involved in this practice but I it was watered down on legal advice but it shows the attitude to recycling over here http://www.abc.net.au/4corners/trashed/8770146
You will be amazed how brazen these big companies are about flouting the laws and they are being supported by councils and the Federal Government. If you watch, note the EPA government representative squirming and refusing to answer if anyone has ever been fined......then there is the golf course landfill project that is ongoing........then there is Ipswich in Queensland with the underground fires.......interesting

It seems that there is lots of money to be made avoiding recycling laws

Since this report came out in August 2017 nothing has changed and our government regulators are still not enforcing the laws

@DOA sorry for the long winded rant but I have no confidence in recycling the batteries in Australia

 

You are of course correct. Other countries have addressed the recycling issue and I am pretty sure Australia will follow.

I am not surprised, when I was working on supertankers I was repeatedly asked to do illegal dumping.
