    Hi MA

No the public release date is still going to be October 22nd, but like previous Windows versions Connect, MSDN, TechNet get the RTM around two months earlier in today for Win7, this is the final version, no testing of RTM, its out the door, so this is same version that you will buy in the shops.

MA, you should have your MSDN subscription by now? its a slowish DL at present as the hordes are DLing.

downloaded it but going to install tomorrow, when i have more time as its late in UK.

    Hi Scylla

NO the forum post links too mention the public downloable RC 7100 version which you can still get, the top section that refers to MSFT signing off on RTM yes, as they did so a few weeks back but the release to OEMs came first, then today the release to developers and MSDN/TechNet subscribers and those that where invited to the TechBeta on MS Connect, this doesnt include those that tested the public releases.

The versions I'm talking about here are the official build 7600 which is release version, that manymay have pre-ordered from Amazon etc

    Info here http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/wi...e-today-for-msdn-amp-technet-subscribers.aspx

Its pretty similar to when vista was released I had it in Nov06, when the public release to buy in shops was Jan07.

No need to pin it, if you have access, you most likely knew it was coming today. I was expecting it from previous emails I received. Again, this is not for the public, but MSDN or TechNet subscribers at Microsoft so there is no confusion :)

Halo, yes I have had my logins and was waiting for word that it could be downloaded today.

Well Installed on laptop an ACER 5633 today, install took 20mins (off USB pen, great trick to install from, much quicker than DVD) and the OS found all bar the Nvidia driver!!

just need to install all default apps of mine over weekend, but so far great install and no issues at all.

Yup, working great here as well, very fast. Digging the new taskbar, much better functionality, but as with all previous versions of Windows, it takes a bit of getting used to. It's biggest failure?

No email. Really. You have to go to Windows Live and download Windows Live Mail. Then, you have to tweak it to work right. Does not import your old exported email settings. This is a massive, massive failure in an otherwise excellent operating system (so far)

Yes MA the new taskbar does get a bit of getting used to, I like it and having multiple windows show is great. No email is sadly part of the anti-competive issues and WLM works fine, as does Thunderbird + Sunbird, unless you have Outlook 2007.

Not found issue in importing as yet from my Vista WLM, just installing apps now, and desktop gets the Win7 treatment tomorrow, may re-install the SSDs in raid0

HomeGroup is superb for network sharing on Win7 between Win7 PCs.

Yeah, thanks for the laugh. Point is that millions will download it and not know what to do.
