i'm a comp n00b, need a little help

i'm semi new to computers, and dont know the more advanced things when it comes to comps. i use norton antivirus and spy bot, but i know there are viruses on my computer because when i scan, it says norton has detected these viruses, but cannot delete them, etc. as well, can anyone tell me usefull utilities to download? or software that has helped them make theit computer faster? there are a lot of dl's on this site, and i dont know what half of them do, this would help me greatly reduce the amount of reading up i will have to do, thx

Make sure you read the first thread by "Major Attitude", this will tutor you on how to get the best help.
