ok so here goes i have a pc which is fairly old with according to everest has these stats
Motherboard:
CPU Type AMD Duron, 800 MHz (8 x 100)
Motherboard Name PCChips M810LR (2 PCI, 1 AGP, 1 AMR, 2 SDR DIMM, Audio, Video, LAN)
Motherboard Chipset SiS 730S
System Memory 119 MB (SDRAM)
BIOS Type AMI (04/25/01)
Communication Port Communications Port (COM1)
Communication Port Printer Port (LPT1)
my first time with a pc and lime wire so i've been downloading like crazy... i think i had windows 98 and i needed 98se to install my router via usb( which still doesn't work) so i installed that. but i didn't format my hard drive i just played the disk straight from "my computer" does this mean i have two o/s saved on my hard drive?? i have tried to format my h/d but i can't find the option in the bios screens. my pc is running extremly slow and i can't run anything elso while being on limewire. i have gone through ms config.. adaware and virused scanned every thing. is there anything i can do to speed up my pc

sounds like a clean install is needed
hd formating is not in the bios (you just tell it where to go)
do you have a boot disc 3.5 or cd??

 

tell bios where to go???? i got windows on a cd its not the origional... i made a copy of it

 

Download, install and run EVEREST Home Edition

When you run the program do the following:

Click-on Report in the File Menu

Select Report Wizard

Click-on Next

Click-on System Summary Only

Click-on Next

Click-on Plain Text

Click-on Finish

Click-on Save To File

Browse to My Documents

Accept the default file name, close the report wizard and everest. Post the report as an attachement.

Download and install Process Explorer.

After you have it installed, run the program;

Click-on File

Select Save as

Save the file to My Documents.

Post the report as an attachment.

 

Copy as in illegally making a unauthorized copy of the copyrighted intellectual property belonging to Microsoft. If so, that is piracy and no one here at Major Geeks will assist you.

 

no i made a back up copy in case i lost the origional... just happens i did

Please install HiJackThis to C:\Program Files\HijackThis. Run HijackThis, Click-on Do a system scan and save a logfile. Post the log as an attachement, DO NOT copy and paste the HJT log.

ok so i've done all that and my pc does seem to be quicker... but when i'm trying to click on some links my internet is now crashing, coming up with report fault and them loading google.... also i have a voyager 205 adsl router but for some reason won't work through usb any more help would be greatly appreciated
