I'm Being Relentlessly Harassed By A Troll...

There's this troll who keeps on harassing me online. It has been this way for around half a year now.

I think this guy is living in the Hawkes Bay Region in or around Napier in New Zealand, because once he slipped up and used an IP address linked to Spark at Wikipedia, when he was trying to screw up articles I enjoyed editing. I've sent abuse reports to this company at least 3 times, but nobody has responded. Many of his accounts at Wikipedia have been banned, but only the moderators can run a check on who is who.

Unfortunately, I tried to bookmark the IP address with my (now banned) Wikipedia account. They're like a pit of snakes there. A moderator deleted all his logs as well to cover his ass, and that was my only major "lead" here as to who his ISP is, as users can typically use a VPN on most other sites, but Wikipedia blocks hundreds of proxies, which may force people to use their own IP address, as he did. The moderator had the cheek to email me too near the end of last year, just being fishy. Well, I assisted him with information about how he was making me suffer, because I thought this moderator was trying to be helpful, and I even provided links, then like my stalker, I'm accused of being a sock master (because they banned a way older account I had used in 2010 for a dumb reason, and I tried to use a different account to get peace from stalkers). He found me at Wikipedia because I revealed on several forums that I found Sylvester Stallone in films as an extra that nobody knew about, so he discovered where I was editing about him, and decided to harass me non stop for all this time. Probably since June or July now.

This nuisance also stalks me on many forums (mainly poorly moderated ones) and he trolls my own acting related pages at IMDb, Wikia and other sites, because he knows I look for work as an extra. In fact, I had to get someone to turn off editing at the Acting Wiki for my page, as he kept being persistent. He knows what kind of articles I like to edit at Wikipedia, so he went there to be really annoying. Sometimes, he also creates accounts on message boards where I start question type threads, and he attempts to blend in with other users by responding to threads I start with similar names to ones he already uses elsewhere, but he posts in a deviously benevolent looking fashion, as nobody else will know who he is. He also registers dozens of pseudonyms and replies to his own attack posts, to act like he has support. Apart from that, he stole films I had on YouTube and tried to upload them to torrent hosts. He got my friend's address from one of the videos we made, and sent people to his door to ask about stuff we were not even selling. I've just about had it with this moron. He also subscribed himself to every film I've worked on, at IMDb. Although that is technically not illegal, just creepy.

What can I try next if that ISP won't even reply?

We could help, but only if he comes here to harass you.

Sorry to hear of this harassment but as Tim said without an IP address (non VPN), real name etc then its very difficult to have the authorities do anything about them, if they came here we can as Tim said help with IP info etc.

I don't know how much as your in UK that our online harassment laws would work if they are in NZ

https://www.netsafe.org.nz/cyberbullyingandonlineharassment/ maybe if you send the IP address you have that linked to SPARK NZ Communications to any report option at this page.

The forum he abuses me at the most is named Love Forum, because I linked him to there on another forum months ago (before I knew he was that troll). At the time, this Kiwi crackpot made a normal looking thread, saying he had anxiety. He was just doing that though after he saw me posting about anxiety, and autism, and many related threads about how I was in trouble with the law regarding getting feelings for my former support workers. He has signed up so many accounts now at Wikipedia. Love Forum. Etc. All similar looking stupid names, like Stimpy, Slurpie, Gimpy, Limpy, Grumpy, and whatnot. Plus, other names, like the name of an actor I was in a movie with in 2016 (after he went reading my posts about my acting ambitions). That's why he found out where I was promoting myself at Wikia, IMDb.com and YouTube. He adds custom posters to film pages associated with me at IMDb. Like with 'Night Closes' for example, he just edited a screenshot and made it look like a poster. The trouble is YouTube is that you can easily find links to people's unlisted videos, from wherever they are embedded online.

Sadly, Love Forum may be a decent site for a chat, but there's no active moderators. Hence why he has stuck around there more than other sites (where he just browses or acts in a somewhat integral, falsely benevolent manner). I'm posting there right now as 'Peter A.' My previous account is 'Peter SC' (but banned because he blackmailed the site owner). He is the latest spammer swamping the forums. In one recent post, he posted pictures of parks from within my city in Scotland, thinking that's gonna intimidate me when I know he's hundreds of miles away.

    <snip>

I spoke to an advisor on Spark several nights ago, and I told the person he lives in the Hawke's Bay region of New Zealand, but they said that I should report him to the police as there's little they can do, and Wikipedia staff erased his logs. The thing is, like you say, cops aren't going to want to play chase with an IP address. They would have to know the guy's actual name and home address. Although they can usually get one's home address from the ISP IP tracing. Or so you'd think. But then if they don't play ball, there's not much you can do. I'm not sure if police can remotely track anybody.

ROFLMAO.....this is way better than Netflix!
Ooops soz, I know we are supposed to help, but is this for real?

This fruitcake has methodically spammed the complete forum without comeback of any sort? Is there something else your not telling us about here Peter A?

You need to play the game, but play it smarter.....ie You need to set the trap!
Start your own blog site about acting (or something of a kind) where you have admin rights on a management console. Its free to host these days and your only cost may be the domain name.

Discreetly let it be known across your regular haunts (with URL links) and he will not be able to resist. Once he comes on board to have a look-see, I'm sure you will be able to identify him and then, you will have him.

For sure he is using VPN and probably an array of proxy chains, but most of these nuts are not as smart as they think.
Whilst they think that masking an IP makes them ghost, they forget about DNS.
Its usually DNS leakage that will guide you back to the genuine IP if you know a little about footprinting.

Good Luck, your gonna need it!

Even if you have the IP what are you gonna do? Fly to NZ and gun him down?

The police wont help you unless threats to life have been made, or someone is injured physically.
They get 100 or so, of these types of calls every week......teenage girls being stalked or bullied on FB, kids having their accounts or emails spammed by disgruntled gamers they pissed off whilst on the server etc etc.
They have the ability, but not the resources to follow up on them all, so to them, it must be a priority 1 issue, case by case.

My best advice....take some time off from these places you haunt for a while, have a holiday, he will either likely get bored and move on, or dig his own grave! (pardon the pun) :p

The internet is full of trolls. I highly doubt there is any official organization out there that would get involved in someone being harassed on a message board or website.

We are primarily a Windows based computer help forum and don't do anything as far as online security or investigation. You are welcome to hang out here and post. Our rules are simple and we do moderate. Be respectful and keep it PG-13. We also do not allow links to other forums (or advertising of any sort) or the posting of personal info (ie. email addresses, phone numbers, etc).

    This was great advise:

Footprints? All of this sounds a bit too technical to me, ha-ha. I wish I knew more about what you're talking about, but I don't. I usually cannot see the IP address of a user, but he screwed up that one time on Wikipedia when he used 222.155.56.18 to edit "The Sidelong Glances of a Pigeon Kicker" page. It's some widely unknown comedy film, and Sylvester Stallone was in a party scene as an extra. Well, I've got a profile on IMDb that lists what films I've been in too, and I think paying over $100 for a pro-membership may as well be a waste of cash. The only benefits is that you see upcoming productions (but I am not in Hollywood, so work is gonna be mega rare anyway). Also, you can upload photos and videos for a demo reel. Again, there's like thousands of people out there with better talent and decent representation, and YouTube doesn't cost you a dime.

I don't get why that administrator erased his logs. You'd think they'd be willing to cooperate with assisting with the abuse of their members. Unfortunately, I had a different account years ago that was banned, and so to them it's like it isn't relevant that I contributed like a crazy cat for all that amount of time. Wasted youth! I had used the more recent one for years undetected, until he came by. In 2010 or whenever it was, I got steamed like cabbage when trolls came there to harass me. Kind of took their bait, and flamed them hard. Sadly, that made me look like a prick. At the time, Wikipedia shared some of the same moderators as Encyclopedia Dramatica (a much loathed scumbag satire site). I feel like it was all a sham, but at the end of the day, they had me beat.

Kind of wish Stallone would do one last Rambo, but I'm happy with Rocky, or Creed. I've actually found Stallone in lots of films that aren't even on his IMDb page. Not sure if you've ever seen a movie called 'What's Up, Doc?' with Barbra Streisand. He was one of the extras in the scene where Barbra Streisand was telling a guy to come to room 17-17. He just walked past for 2 seconds. I've also found him in 'MASH,' 'Downhill Racer,' 'Mandingo,' and 'Klute.' IMDb staff behave like tossers. They added several of these films before, but some people didn't agree it was him, and got the uncredited parts removed. Anyway, I got the 'Pigeons' film on DVD and soon spotted him in this scene, so this is about the only movie they agreed not to delete.

I'll feel gutted once he's gone. At the age of 71, he cannot have many more years left in him, but I always said that with Rocky, he could still be in spin offs as a trainer. They must have read my mind.
