Im gettin a strange cirus alert... I want to remove it.

Theres a virus alert that I think is a trojan/spyware, but I have not been able to find a way to get rid of it.... It flashes from a red cross to a White/blue Question mark/circle. And also pops up a message in the bottom right corner every now and again stating : Your computer is infected! Critical Sustem error! System detected virus activities. They may cause critical failure. Please use anti-Malware software to clean and protect your system from parasite programs. Click here to get available software. ---- Ive tried using Xoftspy, AVG Antivirus 7 fully updated, and Spyware Doctor but nothing removes it entirely.
