Hello all this is my first post on these forums so please, be gentle.

Well now where do I begin, I supose the night it all started. It was about a week ago when I started getting a bunch of Virus' blocked by my Norton Anti-Virus (all in all about 25 blocked), so I just kept on hitting OK and over and over until I got ticked off and shut my computer off for the night (it's a LapTop by the way a Dell Inspiron 6400).

The next day I logged on (I only have only one user name) and began surfing the net again only to find that the virus' started to appear again (only far less frequantly, maybe 5, all blocked as far as I know).

The vast majority of the things that were blocked were trojan, WinFixer & Downloader.

The blocked virus' and such have ceased for the time being and haven't seen one for about 24 hours. Now, I have pop-ups that seem to appear upon double-clicking (maybe it's just a coinsidence) or minimizing a window in Internet Explorer 7 and of course switching web pages.

And along with it comes the slowing down of the computer. Also some windows are hard to close (it'll 'lag' if you will) and it seems like the window freezes, but then suddenly jumps down or away (this has never happened until now plus I should have metioned that I just bought this lap top in february).

I've done several Scans with Norton Anti-Virus and another from the FAQs here on Major Geeks (which one I used I can't exactly remember), and niether detects anything at all, no Virus', spyware or anything else. So acording to my anti-virus my computer is fine. I've used CClearer to wipe away everything that is unesessary, I've also removed programs i don't need, and also Defraged my computer (which took an hour). Also if you're wondering I have 103 of 142 GB free space on my hard drive.

If you have any questions I'll tell you anything you need to know to help me get to the bottom of this.

Thank you for reading my first post. I'll be checking back often to see any suggestions anyone might offer me.

    Hi

Your best bet is to follow the guide I will post below as written, then attach all the requested logs, unless a step cannot be followed in which case tell us why, then one of our malware experts will look over the logs and issue you some manual removal instructions as many malwares are not removed easily my the automatic scanners they need a bit of force to remove.

Our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

Thank you for letting me know, I'll be sure to check stickies and such from hence forth from now on. I'm new with computers and seeing so many things for spyware and Malware I got confused and decided to take the easy way out.

Thanks again I'll be sure to let you know how everything works out.
