This probably is the strangest build I have ever face in my life. This pc shouldn't be ready to need upgrades, but with my AMD 6400 x2, I don't feel like I have a fast 3.2 ghz dual core processor.

    My Specs :

    XFX 9800 GT
    Antec 750 Watt PSU
    Motherboard ASUS 750i
    Memory 4 GB's, Corsair DDR 2 800
    AMD 6400 x2
    250GB HDD x 3, 500 GB HDD
Antec Nine Hundred Case, believe me plenty of air.

My problems, when I play games like World of Warcraft (using old game) to Call of Duty 4, I'm getting this skip in the games.

I don't think it's the Video Card, upgraded from 8800 gt to the 9800 gt, same problem. I upgraded my memory from g skill to corsair, same processor, it has to be my processor. My problems inside the game, when I exit the game or alt tab it TAKES FOREVER to respond and will just sit there frozen. Hell, when I play COD 4 it has this hitch lag, every 3-5 the game pauses and bolts, it's annoying. It's so bad, I play my xbox 360 over a good gaming PC.

What I'm having a hard time over is the fact I just want this to work. Should I just upgrade to an AMD Quad? I wanted to go Intel and start over with a E8400. Are the new AMD's any good? Are they worth buying? I can get one for 160-200, then trying to sell this for 700 and losing another 400 on a clean build, but I want to know if the new AMD chips are worth the purchase.

Thank you, hope everyone had a good Thanks giving btw.

Yeah, it's my video card. I have mad artifacts everywhere, shame. The card cost my $180, I wish they had the evga 260 gtx for 220 at the time. I know now, I won't ever buy another XFX brand card again.

If I am understanding you right, you are getting artifacts with either video card installed. I doubt you have 2 dead cards, you might want to double check. Can you try either card in another computer?

I have several XFX cards that run fine. If the card is faulty, they may warranty it for you. How is the airflow in your case?

Well, I typed it wrong. Sorry to confuse you. When I had my 8800 gt EVGA card, this never happened. My friends 7600 fried, I sold him my 8800 gt for 100, at the time I had no back up cards and the 260 GTX was sold out. I had to leave the store with something and bought a 9800 gt XFX card. I used the 8800 gt for almost a year and never had problems with artifacts or this problem I'm having.

The case I'm using is an Antec 900. It has fans everywhere and 120mm Fan on top blowing down on the CPU and the GPU (card). I also have 2 big fans in the front to cool my drives cool and a zalman 9500 to cool off my processor.

That is a nice case, have a couple of Antec 300's myself, very simular. I think we can rule out airflow! :-D Wait, did you say the top fan is an intake? Should be an exhaust. Double check that just to make sure.

Have you deleted your old GPU drivers and tried a couple of other driver versions?

Also, try GPU-Z to check the temps of your GPU: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download5796.html
