I'm having some "big" problems

I suspect I've gotten rid of most of my prominent problems on this system, as most of my programs run, but it can get very slow at times, and I'm having some issues, some scanners haven't been able to run, and my add or remove programs doesn't work. I think I'm forgetting something, if I remember I'll post it. I only can find 2 logs, both HiJack this, the first one is older than the second.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis ---> the last scan to run and attach (after renaming it as instructed).
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

I tried doing that, most of it work, but I couldn't run Bitdefender or pandascan.

AVG, GRK, ShowNew, and HJT were the only things that worked. Some viruses were found, Windows firewall disabler etc., and some others. I used the special ways to get rid of Smitfraud and SurfSideKick, I don't think I found them, but I've had them before, so it was mainly precautionary.

and if it makes a difference, after changing the HiJack This name to analyses.exe, here's a log.

Your ShowNew log is missing the installed programs list. I am certain there are a few that need to be uninstalled.

However....use windows exlorer to find and delete: C:\WINDOWS\fzepcuw.exe

Run HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Please copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

    Now attach new logs for:
    ShowNew
    GetRun
    HJT

Did that, cpu seems to be working better, but add/remove programs still not working.

I couldn't find that, using HiJack This, it said it didn't exist, but I was able to find and delete

also, I think I've forgotten to mention this, I've had Shellcon Hidden Window, ieSHaz..., Window Name, and other hidden windows that I can't remember their names of right now. mim.exe and mimboot (mimboot.exe?) also, but I'm not sure if they're viruses, the others I'm pretty sure are.

Please use add/remove programs to uninstall:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
    Viewpoint Media Player
    Reboot and install:
    Java Runtime 6

    Make sure this is gone:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Dan\Application Data\Viewpoint

Otherwise.....Your logs look clean. You may uninstall any programs we had you download (including Counterspy).

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
    * Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix you can delete the ComboFix.exe file and associated C:\combofix.txt log that was created.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    5. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    6. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    7. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    8. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
    * go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
    * Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    thank you very much, it seems to be working a lot better now, but;

Add/Remove Programs still won't pop up whatever method I try to use, I'm not sure how to make the Security Center run, and after running spybot the following viruses appeared:
    Avenue A, Inc.
    DoubleClick
    HitBox
    MediaPlex
    WebTrends Live
    Windows Security Center.AntiVirusDisableNotify
    Windows Security Center.FirewallDisableNotify

If you have your xp disc....click start / run / and type "sfc /scannow" (note the space) without quotes ...run it twice. Let me know if that works.

If not go to start / run / and type "CMD" (no quotes), and at the command prompt type
    "REGSVR32 APPWIZ.CPL" without qoutes.

You have Avg as your anti-virus ...windows security center will not recognize it which is why you get that message - it's not a problem.

You do not have a firewall software program, so unless you download one, I would suggest you turn on the windows firewall.

Hitbox is a tracking cookie, as are the others ...again, not an issue.

Yeah, the double scan didn't seem to work, specifically whats happening, is when I click on Set Program Access and Defaultsor go on control center and click on add/remove programs, it'll show the hourglass for roughly 10 seconds, then nothing happens. when I went to CMD and typed it in, an error message came up: "LoadLibrary("APPWIZ.CPL") failed -error performing inpage operation."

Well, that explains your problem.. your appwiz.cpl is missing.

Let's take a look if there are other copies of appwiz.cpl on your system so you can copy it to your system32 folder, so perform next:

Open notepad and copy and paste the text in the quotebox in it:

Save this as look.bat , choose to save as *all files and place it on your desktop.

Doubleclick on it and it will start to scan your computer. Then notepad should open.
Copy and paste the contents of it in your next reply.
