I'm in desperate need - executable file to run HTML?

I'm about to break a number of forum-etiquette rules, but I'll try to at least recognize when I do.

I have a set of HTML files that I wrote and published as a website. I would like to put that HTML on a CD-ROM to give to someone and make it very simple for them to open the index.html file.

I'm not much of a programmer, so this has to be a simple solution. Secondly, this is a very rush job, so it also has to be a quick solution. Kind of limits us, right?

Perhaps there is a better idea? Here's a handy (and concise) background:

I'm submitting my application for grad school, and I need to turn in an academic writing sample. I have a traditional paper, but I also wrote the content and HTML for a web-based essay that I'd like to submit as well. A friend and professor suggested putting that site on a CD, since people are lazy and probably wouldn;t go to a website address if you tell it to them. A CD is a very solid artifact just begging to be put into the computer.

So, my dilemma is this: it needs to be simple to access (like an auto-run .exe file of some kind that opens the first page and then they can go from there?). I really don;t want to have to have them open the CD, then locate and click the index.html file, mostly because that's a very ugly (and time-consuming) thing.

Now, here's the real etiquette no-no: I need to turn this in Friday morning, so I have about a day to figure this out.

Is there any hope? Please? If not here, then does anyone know of a very happening, helpful forum where I can get quick answers?

I appreciate any suggestions tremendously. Thanks!

    Steve

    Step by step instructions:

The page linked above shows you how to make a autorun.inf file to put on your cd, page 3 shows you how to launch a webpage with it. If the computer that the cd is inserted into is set to not autorun cd's, this will not work, though the default is usually to have autorun enabled.

The disclaimer here is that I haven't used the little htmlstarter application that is being discussed here, so I can make no promises about it.

    hope this helps.

It does - thanks! I'm not sure if it will work, but it's a start at least.

I also found a program called HTML Executable. I tried the trial edition and it works pretty well, except it throws a big fat warning when you run the executable saying it was built with the trial version. I'm cheap and don;t want to slap down the $40 to buy it, but at this point I'm probably stuck.

Thanks Publius. If anyone else has any thoughts, keep them coming. I have about 14 hours left until I have to turn this in. Time to brew some coffee....
