I'm just wondering...

AVG recently detected a virus in C:\\Windows\system32\spunk\system\scan called "kill.exe". I want to know what this system folder is, and what it does. I see things such as kill, msurel, and machet. There are folders inside called speedtest, msgs and scan (where the virus was located.) I've come here because google searches have yielded no relevant results. Any explanation for this folder will be appreciated.

 

It was most likely created from an infection. I would recommend a general cleanup to confirm that no other infections remain.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

I would recommend running the cleanup steps becasue there is probably more infections.

I need the logs from the Panda and Bit Defender online scans with a current HJT log.
