Recently My father in law called me and told me he started his computer and when he did all he got was a Message that said "Files corrupt and being deleted" . This Man is 80 something so this is the best he could tell me what happened. His Daughter decided to use the reinstall cd that the computer came with and eliminate everything and reinstall windows, but now there are some issues with drivers..(Im assuming) this is where I took over wishing I would of been the first to handle this task. Anyways when looking in device Manager under the "Other Devices" folder there are 4 items : Ethernet Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller, SM Bus Controller, and Video Controller (VGA Compatiable) that all have yellow question marks next to them. If what I read is accurate this means there are issues with these drivers. I do have the "Driver's and Utilites" cd but when I load it nothing happens except for a modem check and thats it..Im a little lost on what I should do next.......It is a Dell Demension 2400 , with Microsoft Xp professional Version 2002, service pack 1, Intel Pentium (R) 4 CPU ,2.66GHz 768mb Ram., service tag # CHN2Q41 ..I really hope I have given you the info you need to help me remedy this issue.......:confused

    Greetings, Garbageman.

You're missing the chipset, sound and video drivers. Do this:

    1. Download and install this chipset file.

    2. Reboot.

    3. Do the same with the video driver and audio driver.

Let us know how it goes.

Just realized you're at Service Pack 1. Before you try the Audio driver installation, you need to upgrade your XP to Service Pack 3.

Download and install Service Pack 2 first, and then Service Pack 3.

Did everything you ask, Installed the chipset drivers first then reboot, then service pack 2, reboot, service pack 3, reboot, then the video and audio drivers and again reboot. All the yellow questions marks are gone EXCEPT for my ethernet controller that still has a yellow question mark. I am assuming the driver for this is still missing. I tried to hook up the ethernet cable and go thru a couple different ways to see if I could get online but couldnt.

1.Double-click the new icon on the desktop labeled R64645.EXE.

    4.Click OK.
5.After completing the file extraction, if the Self-Extractor
