Anybody know how to use Ghost to put an image on an IDE hd from a SCSI? When I am in Windows, the drive is there I set the destination, but when the system reboots to create the image it says that it cannot find the IDE drive and does not create the image.

    THX!!

You have to enable booting from the SCSI bus in the SCSI BIOS during bootup. Usually it is Ctrl-B, or G, or something where you choose to enable "HOSTxxx" for example. It may be different but you might get the idea.

The SCSI drive is booting correctly. I get the error once it begins writing the image. Ghost can't find the destination drive. I heard something about editing the boot.ini file, but I don't have the details on that.

Are you running Ghost from DOS or are you using the Ghost program in Windows and then restarting?

I find it more reliable to boot from a DOS disk, than run Ghost.exe from DOS.

If this is a boot drive, its not going to happen, if this is Windows 2000 or XP.

IDE drives load with different controller drivers than scsi, and thats (scsi) what is in the image.

Windows 2000 and XP cannot adjust this on the fly. Generally, you end up in a reboot loop, or looking at a stop error. Maybe Ghost is not allowing you because of this.

Usually I do it from a dos boot disk because I trust it more, but I haven't had too many problems doing it from Windows up until now.

I think Adrynalyne is right, because it just boots back into Windows and gives me that error. I put the image onto CD's, and I'm gonna try to load that image onto an ide and do an image from ide to ide for my backup. If all of the drivers are there I should be ok, it's just a pain to do all of that.

I'll update with the results. Thanks for the help guys.

I have done what you are trying to do before. I don't think that is an issue.

Well, here's what happened. There was an error with the cd's (the last disk did not complete correctly), so I tried booting from a ghost boot disk and it didn't see the ide drive. So I scrapped Norton all together and pulled out Acronis, Windows saw both drives, the image went through no problem. I have a lot of Ghost images so I wanted to stick to one thing, but if it works it works, right! Thanks for the help guys.
