images/red dots ?

i dont know if this is anything to worry about or not, maybe im just being paranoid but i figured i would ask.
im running windows 98, with dial up connection.
i use Zone Alarm for my Firewall, and avast! for my antivirus.
i use Firefox 1.0 for my browser.

when i open a browser page, it can take time being on dial up for images to load, and before the images load they all have small red dots towards the top of the picture. once the image loads, you cant see these dots anymore.
i dont know if ive realized these dots before or not, they dont seem familiar.
are these normal? does anyone know or have any information?

 

im not sure why, but its back to normal now.. which is more of a square grey box with blue and green dots with a red/pink triangle.

 

ive had these "red dots" return.
they show up before a picture loads.
like i said, usually before an image loads, it will show a square grey box with small blue and green dots with a red/pink triangle.
thought i would mention this again, see if anyone knew anything.
any ideas/thoughts?

i have them appear on my laptop (win98) aswell as my home computer(winxp)
