    hello

i wasnt sure to put this here or hardware. so i hope that i have the area.

i inquired about my problem originally in imgburn's forum but the admin didn't know a solution to my problem. im desperate to get this fixed cause this is a new pc and i have a ton of videos i wanna burn soon. so i hope this is ok to post here.
    --------------------------------------
    my post:

i just got a new PC and now ive been having trouble with imgburn on it. the previous computer and my burner i had with imgburn had no problems at all from that app. the burner is a Pioneer BD-RW BDR-S08. that and imgburn are up to date. Everytime i burn a bluray dual layer it freezes after it completes writing the disc and it says cycling tray before verify. im using Verbatim bd blanks. also if i try to exit the imgburn after that it freezes the log and my drive and says searching for SCSI / ATAPI
devices. I have to use task manager to end the task to get it to exit. but then my bd drive is unaccessable. hopefully you guys can help me solve this. also i checked the logs to get info about the times it froze but for some reason those times werent listed. thought imgburn logs every burn. if you still want to see the log please let me know even though it doesnt list the times where the problem occurs.

    admin:

If it's cycling the tray, it's simply issuing the commands to eject the tray and then load it again. Something else on you system must be preventing those from completing and causing the freeze.

Right click the drive selection box and pick Family Tree. Close the prompt and then copy + paste everything from the log window please.

    here it is.

    admin:

I'm going to assume you have another spare port on your board somewhere that isn't connected to that asmedia controller. Connect the drive to that instead.

Optical drives don't like some controllers very much... especially if the controller doesn't have certain firmware / drivers installed.

    my post:

yup i got another port i can connect it to. the back of the burner is connected to this white sata plug thats always been there since i got this new computer. its labeled something about its speed or something. but this isnt the burner that came with it couldnt burn blurays if i recall. so i reused my burner from the previous computer. so basically what im saying is why did it work at first and now it happens everytime that it freezes and says that message? please let me know.

    admin:

    I have no idea.

The cycling the tray message isn't bad, it's meant to be there. The system freezing at that point isn't good though, but that's something outside of ImgBurn.
    --------------------------------------------------

this last post by the admin worries about it freezing at point isnt good and that it sounds like he can't help me further since its outside of imgburn.

hoping to hear some good news. thanks in advance.

    Greetings Michael1980.

    Things I'd attempt:

    1. Try another media - yeah, I know the stuff's expensive, but the media is always the weakest component. FWIW I've never been a big Verbatim fan.

    2. Have you tried burning with Windows instead of ImgBurn? The default burning utility has gotten much better in the most recent Windows iterations.

    3. Uninstall / redownload / reinstall, see if your symptoms change. Also, the current ImgBurn version (2.5.8.0) is 2½ years old - there are newer and more functional / compatible solutions available.

    Quick questions:
Has this burner ever burned a successful disk in this computer? If not, are there any flags in Device Manager?

    Hi

Try resolution 2 first HERE then 3 (which is the manual side of what 2 does) and see if that works, you may need to re-install ImgBurn again before trying it.

If the above doesnt help then check Device Manager for any yellow ! marks and tell us if you have any?

If this is a custom or OEM (OEM = DELL, HP, ACER etc) then tell us the make and model of motherboard is custom and make and model is OEM? possible there could be an update to chipset or DVD drive.

Plus the other things mentioned above in checking a different burning app, this may rule out the DVD drive being faulty

Great Michael, hope this is the resolution and indeed do let us know if burning fails again.

Few other things that cropped up in my head this morning before reading your post was to try the following also if the issue come back.

    1. Reboot PC and start ImgBurn and burn discs, dont open any other apps.
    2. Disable your Antivirus while burning
