An acquaintance, who recently got satellite DSL which came with its own virus
& firewall, leaves his comp on 24/7, thinking he's immune to any problems....
What advice can I pass along from the knowledgeable ones?
(I've seen his system work, & it doesn't seem any faster than my copper line
    56K dial-up.)
    Thanx

You can tell him that the worst security is a false sense of security.

I leave mine on 24/7, but I have a hardware firewall, AV, safer browser than IE, insight into safe browsing and knowlege enough to know what's good and what's bad (i.e. files) and LOGS..lots of LOGS. :)

He's most definatley NOT immune and I dare say that ANYONE who is a member of this board who reads this post will love nothing more than to gently educate your acquaintance in the realities of software (in)security.
