Immune from Viruses, Hackers, Spyware?

An acquaintance, who recently got satellite DSL which came with its own virus
& firewall, leaves his comp on 24/7, thinking he's immune to any problems....
What advice can I pass along from the knowledgeable ones?
(I've seen his system work, & it doesn't seem any faster than my copper line
56K dial-up.)

You can tell him that the worst security is a false sense of security.

I leave mine on 24/7, but I have a hardware firewall, AV, safer browser than IE, insight into safe browsing and knowlege enough to know what's good and what's bad (i.e. files) and LOGS..lots of LOGS.

He's most definatley NOT immune and I dare say that ANYONE who is a member of this board who reads this post will love nothing more than to gently educate your acquaintance in the realities of software (in)security.
