Any recommendations on free software for importing video from a digital video camera? I've been using Windows Movie Maker, but it seems to take forever to save. Are these long save times to be expected with any software? I think I calculated that it is taking about a minute to save for every minute of video....

It depends on your computer specs, the encoding used in the video etc.

Make sure you are using Movie Maker 2 (included with SP2, or you can update separately) and not the original XP Movie Maker.

Also, make sure it's connected to a Hi Speed USB port and not to USB 1.1 etc.
