please help i tried searching forums and articles but i can't find anything that would work in my case. So heres its whats going on, some how i got a bug into my laptop and now i got a series of problems::(

hard drive appears as full ( but i know is not)
acces to disk to hard drive is denied (even to transfer files)
can't format the hard drive (to make a new installation of vista)
    no network connection
can't start antivirus program (windows live one care)
can't turn on windows security center
can't install or uninstall any program
about any administrative option is denied.

i downloaded a malware removal program form microsoft using another computer and it ran on my laptop but it says that my laptop is clean.

i'm really frustraded because i don't want to lose all of my files. I have a back up for most of them but not of the most recent ones, any help is greatly appreciated

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Unless you are able to run some of our tools on your PC, it will be very difficult for us to provide you with any support.

    • What Windows OS are you using? Was this the original OS installed on the PC when purchased?
    • Is this a new PC or an old PC?
    • Do things work better in Safe Boot mode?
See how much of the below can be run. Try all steps and tell us when you come back about what you could and could not do. If necessary use safe boot mode although we prefer normal boot mode.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • What Windows OS are you using? Windows Vista (home premium and updated to ultimate)
Was this the original OS installed on the PC when purchased? windows Xp
    • Is this a new PC or an old PC? it is about 1 year old
    • Do things work better in Safe Boot mode?things do work better in safe mode

i tried the steps in the link but nothing seems to work, because everytime i try to do something an error message appears and says "access denied". I also can not delete files from the hard drive.
Most of the programs when i try to run them an error message appears it gives the name of the file and it says it can't be found " C:\program files\xxx.exe can not be found " this also happens with USB drives.

Also i have my hard drive partitioned and the other part has a folder named boot, i don't know if this helps or not.

So you upgraded from Windows XP to Vista Home and then to Vista Ultimate? Or did you do a clean total reinstall each time?

If things work OK in safe mode then try running the READ & RUN ME in safe boot mode. Make sure you have disable UAC and then rebooted as requested in the READ & RUN ME when you get to the Vista cleaning procedures.

i did a clean installation of vista home and then upgraded to Ultimate

i was ableto run the ccleaner tool and also some of the malware scaners on safemode but not all of them. i was able to transfer all of my files into my backup disk, i'm also able to delete folders on the hard drive, but still can't install programs or format the hard drive.

i need help formatting the hard drive. Every time i try it on cmd (command prompt ?) and running windows, i get "acces denied". i just need a way to format the hard drive, so i can do a clean installation of vista.

    Thanks i appreciate your help.

Unless you can get me at least the below to logs from the READ ME, there is not much I can do for you accept to say go to the Software Forum for help on formatting.

Try to get me the below logs. Attach them to your next message.
    • the log from running ComboFix: C:\combofix.txt
    • the log from running MGtools: C:\MGlogs.zip

That is not the log from MGtools. I need the C:\MGlogs.zip file that is mentioned in the READ ME. It contains ALL of the logs from running MGtools.

But I seriously doubt that your problems are due to malware.

I think i just fixed it, i just deleted the system32 and windows folder from the hard drive and the computer froze. I restarted it manually and i would not start on windows, so i ran the Vista CD, and it worked. I formated the hard drive with the CD and did a clean installation. I don't know what it was but it was like i was like i was using a guest account the whole time and it wouldn't let me do anything. I just would like to thank you for your help, i appreciate it.
