    Hello fellow net-ers!

Shout out to all that is here on the site.....

Problem: Not too computer savvy, but I have been attempting to learn...so please go easy on me..

I recently encountered the Antivirus 2009 malware (whatever that is) problem. I have since loaded Kaspersky 2009, Superantispyware, combofix, and Hijackthis to try and resolve the problem. Now 2 weeks into this, I have finally been able to get on the computer without any annoying popups, page redirecting , etc. But now the computer simply shuts down randomly. Note: The computer had never just shut down before. The exact process is the hard drive light goes out and there ARE NOT any fans running, but the screen goes to black, not blue, and the on switch for the tower remains lit on. Therefore, when I press the on switch for the tower, the light goes out and I'll press it a second time so the computer will reboot again normally. There is not a specific time that it will shut down but I have noticed if I google certain sites to resolve the issue, such as malware removal help, it is like someone is watching and the computer goes off as described above. Also, I'll receive a popup from Kaspersky that 3 network connections are open and it will advise that it will close them if I do not check the "no" selection(I'm guessing this might be normal). But as of now, I've been running the computer in Safe Mode with Networking, and the computer does not shut down all the way. What I'm saying is that when I review my Event Viewer there are apparently some errors indicated like Dcom, tcpip, 7000.7009, 7026 etc. at different times, but gosh it stays on at least.....please, please help me....if i have to get any logs i would please need help to find out how to do so..i do have a minidump log that i do not have a clue on how to open .dmp file, but please please help

thanks in advance for feed back peeps:confused:cool

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

This may not be a malware issue, however:

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.

Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

    Note:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can running steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

Starting your computer in Safe mode

    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
