I've followed the procedure from this site before but this will be my first post.

I started by following the required steps in "READ & RUN ME FIRST.." including CWShredder and Kill2Me.
Next I ran Bitdefender and found a few viruses (possibly Trojans). Then I ran Panda and found a few spyware and an adware. These issues are in the scan reports that I attached.

Then I ran HijackThis and fix a few 016 objects by reading through "NO HIJACK THIS...HJT Tutorial & LOG File". The HJT tutorial made me suspicious of one of my O23 files: O23 - Service: AOL Connectivity Service (AOL ACS) - America Online, Inc. - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\AOL\ACS\AOLacsd.exe but I'm not sure how I would remove go about removing it.

Anyway, I re-ran HijackThis to get an updated log file and I attached it along with my Bitdefender and Panda files. I really appreciate any help I can get.

    Thanks

You did not post the actually log from Bitdefender. All you posted was a summary that indicates viruses found but not where. You should follow the directions in the READ ME and you will have a correct log.

By the way there is nothing wrong with that O23 line. It is part of AOL. Don't you use AOL?

Please download HOSTER and then follow the below steps.
    • Unzip Hoster to a convenient folder such as C:\Hoster
    • Run Hoster.exe, click Restore Original Hosts and then click OK.
    • Click the X to exit the program
Make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = ;127.0.0.1;<local>
O1 - Hosts: comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
    O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyPoker\PartyPoker.exe (file missing)
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyPoker\PartyPoker.exe (file missing)
    O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)
    O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.net - {F4430FE8-2638-42e5-B849-800749B94EED} - C:\Program Files\PartyPoker.net\partypokernet.exe (file missing)
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.net - {F4430FE8-2638-42e5-B849-800749B94EED} - C:\Program Files\PartyPoker.net\partypokernet.exe (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete
    :
    C:\Program Files\PartyPoker <-- the whole folder
    C:\WINDOWS\inf\biini.inf
    C:\WINDOWS\inf\satmat.inf
    C:\WINDOWS\satmat.ini

If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again. Other wise open Task Manager and kill the process if running then delete the file.

Now if running Win XP goto c:\windows\Prefetch and delete all files in this folder.
Now run Ccleaner (installed while running the READ ME FIRST).

Now reboot in normal mode and post a new HJT log. And tell us how things are working.

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 1 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.

    Thank you for your help.

I followed the step you suggested and, so far, my computer seems to be working alright.

I apologize for attaching the wrong Bitdefender file. The correct Bitdefender file listed issues within my Norton Antivirus and C:\WINDOWS\backup folders.

I figured that the infection in my Norton files was due to the fact that my subscription had expired. So today I uninstalled Norton and deleted all files associated with it, then installed a new and updated version of Symantec Antivirus .

I then did another BitDefender scan and it seems as though the issue with Norton is resolved. However, there is still an infection in C:\WINDOWS\backup.

I attached the correct Bitdefender file from yesterday's scan (bdscan1.txt) and the new one from today's scan (dbScanFEB1.txt).

Any advice on getting rid of this virus would be greatly appreciated.

    Just delete the file:C:\WINDOWS\backup\TB041222.DAT

You may need to be in safe mode.

You forgot to post the follow up HJT log I requested.

Your log is clean. If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to go back to step 1 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points. Then reboot and enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

After that, you should work thru the below link:
