In need of your help pls...

This problem has only recently manifested itself very recently infact it's started since I formatted my HD.

It's really strange because I've never come across this kind of problem before, the computer just totally hangs.

Whatever I'm doing will stop instantly, the mouse doesn't respond and I can't ctrl - alt - del to stop any programs that may be causing it.

There isn't any slow down of the machine when this happens and it's not predictable so I can't attribute it to any particular program loading up nor can I say that it's because i'm trying to do too much at once.
Just totally out of the blue all i get is the image on the monitor of whatever i am doing but all I can do is hit the reset button and then everything is back to normal until the next occasion that the computer has a fit and freezes.

 

First, have you done any scans for malware lately?
Second, what are your system specs?
Third, how many gallons of gas does it take to get to Denver.(lol just kidding.)
