Increase Download/Upload Speed for a Computer on a Network

So I have cable internet that runs some 7 Mbps for downloads and a bit over 1 Mbps for uploads, yet for whatever reason every computer in my house is capped at 1.2 Mbps for downloads and 100 Kbps for uploads. Two can download simultaneously at 1.2, but one can never go above that

I figured that this might have something to do with the routers we're using but all of the routers are 100/10 Mbps. I checked through, and all of the connections are running at 100. There is one router in the system (WGR614) that runs at most 54 through wireless, but that still should be enough!

Is there something I have to configure, or am I basically stuck?

 

Have you tried hooking up a single machine directly to the Cable Modem and seeing if you still experience the speed issue?

 

This sounds to me like it is a Quality of Service issue. If you have a setting for QoS on your router, then try turning it off, if, as Squeaner suggested, connecting to the modem directly solves the problem.
