On today's front page at www.majorgeeks.com, there is a new version of Incredimail listed

IncrediMail Build 2469 [ 9.1 Mb | Freeware | Win All]
Personalize your e-mail according to your mood and personality

I note that this is listed as Freeware. In previous instances it has been listed as "Adware", not Freeware. Does this mean that it no longer has any Adware?

Is the new version as difficult to remove as previous versions were?

The reason for me asking is that ladies like Incredimail and I always warn them against it because of Adware and that it hard to remove. Bazza

As I wont be installing it to test Bazza, I can only go off the info they post in their Privacy Statement, which is curious as Softpedia gave it a 100% clean rating for "No Adware" when Incredimails own statment says this.....

If thats not Adware, then I have this whole Adware thang wrong?

If its status has changed then Incredimail have themselves not updated their Privacy Statement... so dunno unless you install it Bazza and tell us ;)

Hi!
I've had IncrediMail for the past few years. I haven't had any problems with it at all. As far as I understand it, it has never shown up within scans using AdAware and Spybot, etc., The advertising it displays, is in a small window when you open the program. It's pretty much out of the way. The only problems that I've ever had with IncrediMail, is that sometimes it can be a resource hogger. Usually I find that it's because I need to update it, or I'm doing too many things at once, lol.

Thanks, Halo.:) Illuminating reply as usual.
Don't know whether to give it a try, or not.

9meg download on dialup is a PITA.:p

Last time I tried it, a real long time ago, it came up with 130 instances of "Adware", or something. Can't remember the program I used to detect them. I think it was probably Pest Patrol, and that was enough for me to delete it and never use it again.

I guess I should think outside my prejudice and give it another try. The ladies really love it. Bazza

I'm sure it only gives you an advert window now as Oooops! mentions, but as mentioned by Oooops! the adverts dont seem to flag up anything in Spyware scanners!

All depends on do you need this app to warrant the download? I know you like impressing the girlies so maybe its worth it ;) :D

I weakened, downloaded and installed it. Very pretty.
I ran Spybot S&D, AdAware, Pestpatrol,MRU_Blaster, CCleaner, Cleanup!, Empty Temp Folders, and CWShredder before, and after, installing it, and Incredimail came up clean on my XP Pro laptop.

Seems like it passed all my tests and is safe for me to use.
I don't think it will work with AOL however so that will fix that,
but others should be safely able to use it without nagware. Bazza

PS: @Halo, Ladies love it, that is why I tried out the new version.
Not the other way around. :D That's my story and I'm sticking with that. Baz
