Maybe as crimes like these increase, customers will start to demand comanies keep their business information within our shores where US regulations and laws can provide some protection against fraud.

The Ascended One writes "Call center employees working for an Indian
software company, [0]MSource, supposedly [1]used confidential client
information to transfer client funds to themselves. The alleged
perpetrators used the personal information of four NY-based clients to
transfer ~$350,000 (Rs. 1.5 crores) in their names, a large sum in Indian
currency. They were caught after the victims alerted the bank officials
in the US, who then traced the crime to the Indian city of Pune. While
the name of the bank has not been revealed, the article indicates that
the bank in question is Citibank."

Damn straight! No outsourcing crime to foreigners! Only Americans should be allowed to rob Americans. ;)

But seriously, fraud and theft are crimes in India, also. I'm sure their British style legal system will deal with it just fine.

Knowing that some constable is working on your case abroad is little consolation for the guy in the States whose account was drained.

Yeah, but what about when they DO get caught? No Martha Stewart house arrest for those guys. F**king bread and water in an overcrowded prison...For real, I bet India or any other country where outsourcing occurs absolutely throws the book at people who do stuff like that, so the countries that are doing the outsourcing won't be discouraged from outsourcing to their respective countries.

I feel sorry for those guys... a little greed and you're f***d for life...
