    Hello,

I'm unable to get my printer to work as a result of (apparently) some problem in the INF file.

I get the error codes 0xe0000228 and 0xe0000102

As well, I'm told the printer driver required is not detected,
and that the required line was not found in the INF. I've spent numerous
hours researching this to no avail. I have found no conclusive solutions to this
    problem.

Could someone please help me? I'm at my wits end.

    Sincerest thanks.

    Darrell

It would help if you would give us the make & model of the printer you're trying to install, as well as the computer make & model and the OS you're using.

Ooops, that was rahter dense of me wasn't it?

Okay, the printer is Canon MP250. The PC is just put together from sundry parts, but I am using XP.

    Hopefully that's everything.

    Go here http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/c...oadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=334&modelid=18636
and download version 1.02 which works for XP.

For the first error, during the install point the hardware wizard to C:\windows\inf
and see if it can find what it needs.

The 2nd error has to do with windows wanting to keep the same version of files. Make sure you are installing the software first, using an account with administrative privileges and only attaching the USB device after the software is loaded.

At this point you might have bad partial installs that would probably be good to clean out. Uninstall the printer, even though it never properly installed.

    Plodr,

Thanks for trying to help. I did everything you suggested, to the "T"
and the problem still persists. Everything I've found on line that seems like it would be the solution turns out to either 1) not be quite the same problem as I'm having or 2) describes my situation but doesn't tell what to do about it. Microsoft being one of the worst perpetrators.

    Thanks again.
