    Dear Chaslang,

I have been helped by u before and the results were great.
Thus I adviced my parents to visit majorgeeks aswell, since they've been having random things happen on their computer.
For example: when they are sitting on the couch, watching tv, all of a suddon the windows helpdesk page pops-up. And more of these things.

So that is why I am asking for ur help.
I will post a couple of logs:
    -GetRunKey
    -ShowNew
    -HijackThis
    -ActiveScan
    -BitDefenderLog

Counterspy failed to show a log (because something went wrong).

    Hopefully these logs are sufficient.
    Michael

Either run it again in Normal Boot mode and save a log or uninstall it and run a scan with AVG Antispyware and attach a log.

You did not attach the log we requested from BitDefender online scan. You must follow the directions given to get the log which should be an HMTL encoded file renamed to have .txt extension. What you attach is a log summary which is of no use to us at all.

Who installed the below program and when?
Is it legal? It appears to be infected and looks to have been downloaded using bit torrents which all show as infected.

    magic speed 3.0

    Delete the below files:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Eigenaar\Shared\magic speed 3.0\magic speed v3.0 Bittorrent downloader.zip
    C:\Documents and Settings\Eigenaar\Shared\magix activate code Bittorrent downloader.zip
C:\Documents and Settings\Eigenaar\Shared\You didn't find magix activate code - Find it with new Desktop Tool Professional Edition.rar
E:\Albums\Magix activate rar\Download tons of magix activate code videos with mirar toolbar v1.0.0.5\setup.exe
E:\Albums\Magix activate rar\Download tons of magix activate code videos with mirar toolbar v1.0.0.5.zip
    E:\installer\EZWipe v1.1. exe\ez wipe Bittorrent downloader.zip
    C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msimg32.dll

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

Make sure you reboot after uninstalling the above!

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Run HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {BC4FFE41-DE9F-46fa-B455-AAD49B9F9938} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: SWEETIE - {1A0AADCD-3A72-4b5f-900F-E3BB5A838E2A} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BC4FFE41-DE9F-46fa-B455-AAD49B9F9938} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O20 - AppInit_DLLs: 57.dll
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: WRNotifier - WRLogonNTF.dll (file missing)

NOTE: HJT may popup an error about the AppInit_DLLs line. Ignore it and click OK to continue.

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
    Now run Ccleaner!

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. GetRunKey
    2. ShowNew
    3. HJT

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 8 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.

I found my Counterspy log I will post it.
And I did a rerun on the Bitdefender and saved the correct log.

Also I will re-attach HJT, ShowNew and GetRunKeysfiles.

All the steps U told me to do worked very good.

Also I want to state once again that this is not my PC, but my parents and I assume that they downloaded that Magic 3.0 thingy, eventhough they couldn't remember. Why they did it, I don't know, but it's gone now.

Your logs are clean but you forgot to tell me how things are working!

You should uninstall the CounterSpy trial now since we are finished with it.

Sorry that I forgot to tell you how things are working now.

Untill this very moment I have not seen any sign of the strangly occuring popups. I believe this computer is now Mallware free I suppose?

So.. I should continue with the next step? (Toggle system restore etc?)

Counterspy is uninstalled now and I did a run with Ccleaner *also the problems tab* so there should be nothing of it left.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix, you can delete the ComboFix.exe file, C:\ComboFix folder, C:\QooBox folder, C:\WINDOWS\nircmd.exe, and the C:\combofix.txt log that was created.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    5. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    6. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    7. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    8. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    9. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    10. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    11. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
