    This laptop running XP Home SP2, initially had about fifty detected infections as reported by Ad-Aware, Stopzilla, Spybot, A Squared free and Spyware Doctor ( Spyware Doctor was downloaded and run for detections, but not purchased) . Runs of above were interspersed with CCleaner and Registry Mechanic. Standard and Safe modes have been employed. Ran ComboFix last. I'm down to just a few infections, as far as I can tell, Stopzilla says I've got lpv4mons, Spybot says Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter_disabled, A Squared is happy, Ad-Aware is happy. I've attached the most recent ComboFix log and would appreciate any help available to get me over the finishing line.

    Thanks Tim
    After following the recommended procedure only Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter_disabled is reported by Spybot. Incidentally, although not part of the procedure, Stopzilla still reports
    lpv4mons. Would be grateful for any help you can give.

    First a question ...did you set this:
    Code:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentVersion\Run\AutorunsDisabled]
    "MSKDetectorExe"="C:\\Program Files\\McAfee\\SpamKiller\\MSKDetct.exe /uninstall"
    "SpeedTouch USB Diagnostics"="\"C:\\Program Files\\Thomson\\SpeedTouch USB\\Dragdiag.exe\" /icon"
    "TalkTalk"="\"C:\\Program Files\\TalkTalk\\bin\\sprtcmd.exe\" /P TalkTalk"
    "IntelZeroConfig"="\"C:\\Program Files\\Intel\\Wireless\\bin\\ZCfgSvc.exe\""
    "IntelWireless"="\"C:\\Program Files\\Intel\\Wireless\\Bin\\ifrmewrk.exe\" /tf Intel PROSet/Wireless"
    "ISTray"="\"C:\\Program Files\\Spyware Doctor\\pctsTray.exe\""
    "Symantec PIF AlertEng"="\"C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Symantec Shared\\PIF\\{B8E1DD85-8582-4c61-B58F-2F227FCA9A08}\\PIFSvc.exe\" /a /m \"C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Symantec Shared\\PIF\\{B8E1DD85-8582-4c61-B58F-2F227FCA9A08}\\AlertEng.dll\""

    Please download and install:
    Java Runtime 6

    Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.
    * Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * Do not change any check box options!!
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:

    * Now click the Execute button.
    * Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    * Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    * Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

    Tell me the path that Stopzilla is reporting.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

    Thanks Tim, yes, I used Autoruns to disable some things when attempting to diagnose an earlier problem. The Stopzilla path is HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control Panel\Load.
    Avenger and MGTools logs attached. It's good of you to help.

    Your logs look clean.

    Let's do two things:
    Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
    Please download and run ATF Cleaner by Atribune. This program does not require an installation. The executable actually runs the program.

    Tell me if you are having any other malware issues.
