I recently noticed that things weren't running quite normally on my computer. Things aren't horribly bad, but I don't want things to get any worse. Right now, I can't open task manager without making a copy of the executable and renaming it. I also can't open malwarebytes and every now and then random
tabs will open when I am surfing the web in chrome. I just recently read the malware removal/cleaning procedure and the logs created should be attached. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Download and run OTM.

Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    Code:
    :Files
    C:\Program Files (x86)\sweetpacks bundle uninstaller
    C:\ProgramData\APN

    :reg
    [-HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Tracing\ApnSetup_RASAPI32]
    [-HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Tracing\ApnSetup_RASMANCS]
    [-HKU\S-1-5-21-219565491-456518403-64094770-1001\Software\Conduit]
    [-HKU\S-1-5-21-219565491-456518403-64094770-1001\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{87246660-D9E2-410E-8175-AF5BE9AF6976}]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{87246660-D9E2-410E-8175-AF5BE9AF6976}]

    :Commands
    [emptytemp]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Push the large http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2782/4174320048_f01c448b32_o.png button.
    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it into a text file to ATTACH into your next reply.

NOTE: If you are unable to copy/paste from this window (as will be the case if the machine was rebooted), open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and attach the contents of that document back here in your next post.

http://imageshack.us/a/img841/7292/thisisujrt.gif Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Now re run Hitman again (in NORMAL mode if at all possible please from now on!)

Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now! (Some more may have to be done to correct Chrome but we'll get to that... ;))

Well, JRT wouldn't run for me. It would just open up a command prompt and then nothing else would happen. However, here are the logs of everything else that ran.

The logs look good. How are things running?

Well, to be honest, things are a little worse now. Before I started trying to fix these problems with you guys I could still log on normally. Now I have to use Safe Mode. If I log in like I normally would the cursor has the loading symbol when I move it to the bottom task bar and I can't make it open anything. I can't even open the ctl+alt+delete menu. Also, I notice that when I log in a command prompt window opens up. I can't recall if it's always done that, but it doesn't seem normal to me. Something else that might help you is that when I was able to log on normally and the problem was that the task manager wouldn't stay open, if I renamed taskmngr.exe to something else and opened up the task manager, ending a process called I3autoscript (I believe) would make it to where I was able to open task manager normally. I hope this helps. Thanks for your time and patience.

Actually, you have been in safe mode EVER since you attached your first set of logs. ;)

Run MGTools.exe in NORMAL mode and then attach the MGLogs.zip please. And if you are not able to, explain what happens.

Before I came to this site and started following the instructions of the malware removal guide, I was able to log in to normal mode. However, after I disabled UAC I was unable to use the computer in normal mode. After the first reboot after disabling UAC the computer would allow me to log in as it normally would, but after the desktop appears a command prompt window shows up and then disappears and after that point I can't do anything else. When I click on anything nothing happens. I can't ctrl+alt+delete to the task manager screen. The computer doesn't let me do anything. The only thing that I can do is hold the power button down and then I am able to use Safe Mode to get on the message board to post with you. I am unable to run MGTools in normal mode because of this.

Then you will have to post about that in the software forum. The guys and gals in there will be able to help you with that I should think.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove them, you can delete these files now.
    3. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

I don't think that it is a software issue. When I log into windows normally, if I ctrl+alt+delete as soon as I press enter to log in, I am able to pull up the task manager for just a moment. As soon as the process called Autoitscript or whatever it is pops up, the task manager closes and I'm unable to do anything. That process is the same process that was keeping me from being able to use task manager when I was able to log on normally. I think disabling the UAC somehow allowed the virus to manifest itself worse.

But it is a Software issue. You did not have a virus to begin with. You just had some basic everyday junkware/adware. Autoit is something you installed. See this>> http://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit/

Since you believe it is the start of your problem based on what you are posting then you should uninstall it if still installed. If not installed then just do the below

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win 7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Java] cmd /c cd %APPDATA%\AutoIt3 & AutoIt3.exe soundmng.txt

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now reboot your PC and see if you still have a problem.

Lol well, sorry to bother you with my non-malware issue. I'm not sure how that file got on the computer, but I'm not the only user so who knows. I do appreciate your patience and generosity though. The computer works fine now and I haven't had a single issue since I removed that file. Thank you so much!
