http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/_c.html gives a lot of info on running processes. Can't guarantee the accuracy of the info, though, as opinions range from 100% one way, to 100% the other way.
You may glean something useful from the site, though. Bazza

Visited their link. All I got was their front page and no apparent way of proceeding further. Are all thier contacts by email only? I musta missed something. Bazza

Thanks Halo, I will check it out tomorrow am. Wished I only had 20-30 processes running on my laptop. What with XP SP2, TOSHIBA utilities, ATI video bits, M$ and the stuff I really use, I've got twice that number. Gradually weeding them out but some give little indication of what they do. Gonna have to google a lot of them, I figure. Baz

    I usually hit up www.processlibrary.com

type in whatever process you are wondering about, and it'll tell you what software it is related to, its function, its threat level, and recommend what you should do with it.

well in that case you may like this little app which utilises your task manager process list to add an (i) next to the running process, which takes you to the exact page at processlibrary.com without the need for searching, only good if its your PC or installed on the PC your working on, but will help many users who dont find it easy to search the net for info on what aplication process does what!

    I tried Process Library.

Unfortuantely, everytime I click on the blue (i) icon, my download manager cuts in and tries to download it, even though it's only a web page.

Even disabling my download manager (DAP) doesn't help. Thanks anyway though. :)

Works for me with Leechget. Doesn't stir my downloader into action. I still have the problem outlined in http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=88814 but as long as I cut and paste, process library works for me. Bazza
