install vista from usb

    I want to install vista from a usb, its in the list under boot order, it has the options of usb cdrom, usb floppy,usb superdisk and usb hardisk, it isnt at present showing as a boot option though when i start up, which usb option should i choose and how do i enable it as a startup option?

    You may also need to format the USB with NTFS after setting the device properties to Performance rather than the default Quick removal.

    So does anyone have a link to a good guide to setting the usb up with vista , i have just got an 8gb one so i can have a go :)

    Hi

    Yes try this HERE its bacially the same way that I use to install Vista or Win7 from USB to a HDD, or Netbook without a DVD drive.

    Just need to set in the BIOS the 1st boot device to USB and have USB pen formatted and Windows copied to it in the above guide and your off.

    Unetbootin will not only set up the MBR of your USB stick to boot, it will also copy the entire install CD over and get it ready to boot. It's pretty intuitive.

    Alternatively you can use the Microsoft Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool to put a windows 7 .iso file on a usb stick and make it bootable.

    When i type select disk 1 it says the disc i specified is not valid, my harddrive is disk 0 when i check the list but nothing else shows as an option ?
