make sure that drivers for your hardware are available.

What would be the easiest way to update my drivers to Win 7?

The correct and safest way before you install win 7 is to go to the manufacturer's website. Put in your model and see if drivers for win 7 are there. If so, download all of them and burn to a CD or put on a USB stick.
After 7 is installed and if you have missing hardware in device manager, point each item to the CD or USB stick and let it find and install the correct driver.

On the other hand, if the manufacturer says win 7 is not supported, I'd forget about trying to install it because you might have real hardware problems.
