    Hello,

Last week, with the help of HALO, I was able to make an XP sp3 cd-rom to do some windows repairs.
This worked perfectly but today, when I tried it again, suddenly a file necessary for the installation process is missing: a7uw7ih0.sys
It should be copied into the $WIN_NT$.~BT map but it is not on the cd-rom.

I checked the original .iso file which I still have on my hard disc but it also is absent there.

I googled on it and searched the microsoft data base: zero results.

Why is this unknown file suddenly needed now and not during an earlier attempt, why do I seem the only one having this problem and how can I solve this?

    Hi

With an unknown file with random text like that one, I would be suspecting malware as the cause, best option is to run through the malware read and run me, start a new thread in malware forum and attach your logs.

Cannot find that file on my work PC which is XP, and as you say with it not being on the disk or no reference to it on the net, malware is the likely suspect im afraid.

ok, on the website I found a couple of malware detectors of which BOClean had the best ratings.
    I'll try that.
    Or are there better suggestions?
