I have some GPS software on my work laptop, Garmin Nroute, that is installed in my "Profile Space" on my C:\ drive.

Due to online updates, it has now filled that space such that I can't log off or shutdown. My company won't increase the space.

I can't find the original disk.

Can I move the whole thing to another Drive on my HD (I have two drives on my HD) without having to uninstall it from C:\ and reinstall it on D:\ with the disk? I have admin rights.

    Thanks...

:confused I'm assuming you mean that you have two partitions on your drive.... anyway- I would say "No", you cannot simply copy the Garmin program folder from C: to D: and have it work just fine. Sure, there's a chance it will work, but it is highly unlikely. If your main partition is so full that you're having problems with regular functionality, it's WAY past time for some general maintenance. Click on this link and read the Major Geeks Guide to System Maintenance and clean some of the junk off that hard drive. I have seen PCs with over 5gb of useless junk and temporary files just wasting space. Yeah, 5gb isn't a lot of space in the whole scheme of things, but it's always a good idea to get rid of the junk. Back to the original question: you can try to copy the Garmin program to drive D:, then rename the Garmin folder on C: so it can't "find itself" when you try to run it from D:. If it runs OK, then you can probably delete the folder from C:. But I have really strong feeling it won't work for any length of time on D:. As soon as it goes to update itself, it will try to install those updates to the original install location which is drive C: and things will error out....

Thanks for your reply. It's not that my C:\ partition is full, it's just that my company has me set up with a "Profile Space" on my C:\ partition and it is full. I have no idea why they would install the Garmin software in there originally, given the possibility of updates.

There is another option. I have Sun Java in there too. I understand that is a free download, somewhere. I could uninstall that, and reinstall it elsewhere, yes?

Having said that, is there any way I can identify the Java software on my laptop so I can be sure of replacing it with the correct version?

    Thanks...
