Previously touched on this problem in an earlier post, so please merge it it required.

    The details:
Custom built laptop (see attached everest report)
    windows XP + SP3 included.
Most recent realtek HD audio drivers

Originally thought that there was a fault on the realtek HD audio drivers, would not work once installed, so followed the instructions about removing the UAA HD Audio bus, rebooted, windows then reinstalled the HD audio bus AND the realtek drivers automatically.
I then had sound. - YAY!

BUT, upon rebooting the machine, the audio devices in the Device manager disappeared, and if I want sound again, I have to go through the whole reinstall process.

I had been told it was a corruption of the windows registry and to reinstall, which I have, resulting in the same situation.

I have also been told it might be the bios, but not sure of the bios to update it with.

    Any thoughts?

According to the Everest report, you have a Mitac 9525 laptop. Mitac manufactures laptops that get rebranded by other companies like GQ (the Fry's house brand), etc. Upon checking the Mitac support page, it seems that the 9525 is the one model that they don't have any downloads for! :cry So, I'll continue looking for a fix for you, but be patient. I'm VERY busy and it may take 2-3 days for me to get back to you. In the meantime, now that you have the model number, do some research on your own and let us know what you find. Also, the latest RealTek HD audio driver can always be found at this link. Good luck!
    :-D

    (here's the link to Mitac's downloads, maybe I overlooked something: http://mtc.mitacservice.com/MISC/M0100/F0130_1.aspx )

The nearest I can find after searching for the drivers is the Getac website , which appears to be the selling arm of the Mitac laptop brand.

I've emailed them, and they appear to have a laptop model 9525 which in the image they have provided (it is a SMALL image) the case, keyboard and hardware spec all appear the same. But no apparent drivers for the 9525 model yet.

    I'll keep searching.

BTW, the audio driver you recommended is older than the one on Realtek's site. Which should I go for?
