installing 2nd HardDrive

I recently built (or rebuilt) my tower. I have a Seagate SATA hard drive currently running windows xp and the previous hard drive (Maxtor). I want to be able to use both harddrives and have an IDE to SATA converter for the maxtor but the MB won't recognize it. Can anyone help?

I don't know why your converter does not work, so I'll mention another option, which is a PCI IDE Controller Card. Here's one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815124001. You would install this card in a PCI slot and then connect your IDE drive to it.
