Installing Java on Millenium - Problem

I have two millenium HPs with plenty of resources but am unable to install JAVA (the old versions were erased when I tried to update). I have tried both on-line and off-line downloads of the Java for Millenium from java.com and have confirmed that the downloads are complete, correct versions and proper size. I have removed all previous traces of Java from the machines, as was recommended.

When I click to install, I see a quick flash on the screen and then nothing...No error message or other screen appears...(just the desktop) - and no error applying transforms. - so I am not getting to the screen where I must accept terms

I have no pop-up blockers, browsers, or anything else running, have lowered security, and have turned off zonealarm firewalls.

But something is blocking my install somehow.

please help so I can get back to my silly internet games!

 

Hi Halo,

I downloaded the installer 2.0 and upon installing it got an Error Box saying,
"The Specified Service already exists"

So I again tried installing the current offline millenium java which I downloaded and the screen just flashed and nothing happened (when I tried in safe mode, the curser just flashed when I clicked the .exe file, and again nothing happened)
