Apparently I can't edit my posts? Hm. Anyway, I figured I'd add the fact that my computer had crashed some time ago (at that point, I had regular Windows XP) and my friend fixed it for me by restoring the system and installing his Windows XP Professional on it. Since it's his, I don't have the disk. And he lives a state away and I see him very rarely, so it's unlikely I could get the disk back from him any time soon.

And, of course, your friend has the same edition of Windows XP installed on his computer. So, you have an illegal installation of Windows. Such fact is even part of the discussion to which you linked.

So, I don't think you'll get help here on installing a language pack on an illegal installation of Windows. The best advice is to get your own legal copy of Windows.
