Hi, Im installing a new HD 60GB to replace my old failing 30GB drive I have 495mb ram according to free ram XP pro.
I will also install windows vista home premium.
I'm using an LG ls 50 Laptop. Been good to me and I want to make it well again.

I also have 160gb external HD.

I would like to transfer all the stuff such as Photo's word docs etc to external HD before installing new drive and put essential stuff back on after sorting.

I also want to retain good stuff like,

    Emails
    Email Settings
    Favourites
    Wireless network settings
Favourite programs (some installed long ago)

I'm sure there are more things too I can't remember or just don't know about.

What is the recomended process for replacing HD and upgrading OS are there some simple guide lines, I have a resonable understanding of how things work but am I taking on too much ( I'm ready for a challange but don't want to stuff up).
Can I also run programs not used frequently (Photoshop, illustrator etc) from the External HD?

Hoping I'm not asking too much and you can help:eek:
    Thanks
    mrp
