Installing new Mobo in an HP, NEED HELP PLEASE

I installed a new motherboard in an HP Pavilion and the system turned on and off, when I called tech support they said it was power issue and sent a new power supply. I changed that and when I went to system recovery it only went to 88% and then shut down with missing or corrupt hal.dll file and wouldn't do anything else. I couldn't even boot from CD or get the boot sequence option to come up on screen, they are sending me another motherboard any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There's not much you can do about a bad motherboard. If you have any problems with the new one, please post! Have you run a diagnostic on the hard drive? There's always the chance that it's failing.... check the RAM too. Download a bootable diag from the Memory section here at MajorGeeks. I like the Microsoft memory diagnostic; it creates a bootable floppy or CD image. Choose 'T' for the extended tests and run at least 3-4 passes.

Just sounds like a corrupted file or files. I've had the hal.dll missing or corrupt error a few times, mainly after a big power surge. Not to mention I'm sure my piece of crap maxtor hard disk was part of the problem. Another problem that goes along with this is "NTLDR is missing". I have never seen those two errors without them being together.

You can fix this using a boot disk with the: NTLDR, NTDETEC.com, hall.dll, and a modified boot.ini file, I'm not sure if thats all and I'm not at home to see whats all on my fix disk. So when I get home I'll try to look for that. Or maybe someone else has the solution I'm looking for.
