Frequently, when I try to install software, I get the following message
internal error: Failed to expand shell folder constant 'userdesktop'
Could sometime please suggest a way to correct the problem?

I'm running Windoes Xp with Service Pack 3.

are you on a limited/nonadministrator account? from reading similar things on the web, might have something to do with permissions and maybe the desktop being read-only? do you have any other problems along with this? (i.e. computer running slow, maybe need to do a malware scan? ?

    Thank you the quick response!
Yes, it is a non-administrator account.
3 different anti-malware scanners say that the computer is clean.
