So i received my copy of Vista in the Mail and im deciding to install it. The only problem is that i dont want to clean install and loose all the things i have on my laptop.
Is there a way to maybe install Vista and have the files all there when its all Installed?
Vista is compatible with my system requirements but as i stated above my only problem is that i dont want to loose all my files when installing Vista.

    Thanks for any help.

Upgrade install is the option to retain your files, BUT being honest and having run that senario at least 100 times, the legacy files from XP left over are a pain in the butt, it would be much better to save your important files to cd/dvd/usb pen or seperate HD and clean install if your hardware is fully Vista compat.

If by files you also mean software, be very carefull as some software especially security software may not work and will need uninstalling before the install and reinstalling after as it can block the upgrade process.... ZoneAlarm is one noteable.

But please do backup your important files first as any upgrade to a different OS has its dangers.
