    Hi all!

PLEASE help. I'm at my wits end. I'm trying to install Windows on a friend T22 Thinkpad but having huge problems doing so. The HDD has been formatted but I can't seem to install XP or 98.

With XP, I insert the CD but it just won't boot up. Comes up with the message "Missing Operating System". Tried using XP startup discs but just get the message I/O error.

So, thought I'd try 98. That's got to work surely. Using start up disk it gets to the point where it tries to install the drivers for the cd drive, however, this being a T22 laptop, you can't have the cd drive & floppy drive installed at the same time, so it skips installing these drivers. So when I put the Win 98 disc in the cd drive, the laptop doesn't recognise the cdrom drive. Aaaaaarrrrrgggghhh!

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

have you check the setup program to boot floppy first or the cd.

Yeah done that. But it doesn't really matter because you can only have one or the other in at the same time anyway.

This means entering the BIOS to make sure the CD drive is set to boot first.
