I am trying to install Windows XP Home (SP3) to my brother's computer (Compaq CQ61-210SO) but the install fails to start because of the missing HDD drivers (I think, atleast).

What are the drivers for this build?

    Welcome to Majorgeeks :)

You need to install the correct SATA/RAID drivers for this laptop; I've just had a quick dig around on the Compaq/HP site and the laptop uses the Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics chip which is part of the Intel Express chipset, I'm just guessing here, based on what's available at the Intel site but I think you'll need the 32-bit Floppy Configuration Utility.

If the laptop doesn't have a floppy drive built in, you'll need to borrow a compatible USB floppy drive or create a Slipstreamed version of the XPSP3 CD.

Read this thread first, big thread on slipstreaming at BlackViper, if it's a straightforward just add SATA drivers, maybe Ryan's RVM Integrator is all you need.

This HP thread should contain more specific information for your laptop.

EDIT; <just checked and my guess on the correct driver was right according to the above thread> See the upper section of Part 2 for your specifics.

For no flooy driver built in, I always turn off the sate in BIOS first, then reinstall XP.
