intel controllers and conexant modem

ran a program that indicated above needed to be updated. every website i visited would fix for a price. do i need to update. should i pay for updates. can i update for free? or, is this just another scam to get in my back pocket. i'm using two year old dell dimension xp home w/dsl and 1g of ram. computer seems to run fine, i'm just concerned and would appreciate any helpful advice.

here is info as requested. i'm not having any problems w/computer, just concerned with results of program that i ran, can't remember name of it. i'm a novice computer user and learning on the fly. after reviewing above, please advise any action i should take. should i now delete belarc advisor?, or keep on computer.

thank-you very much for the information that you supplied, you are a very thoughtful and kind person. your's right, i should have reviewed report before sending, still learning on the go. i'll print out your advice and use in the future. you're also right about dell, i guess i was having a senior moment, still have two years of warranty left and dell is the first place i should go w/problems.
