ppl said they overclock on the stock to 3 to like 3.2 ghz. And im at the point of thinking theyre bs. I can get barely past 2.4 without my bf2 crashing or the pc freaking out. im wondering if a zalman 9700 could hit 3.4 no problems or 3.2 no problems. So far this cant overclock as well on a stock fan as i thought it could do. But 2.4 isnt that bad, I have a e6400.

What kind of memory do you have?

In order to run e6400 @ 3GHz you need RAM @ 3000Mhz/7 = 429MHz = DDR2-857Mhz. So for overclocking e6400, esp. beyond 3GHz, you need memory that can do DDR2-850 or better. All of the above is under assumption that you want to keep FSB:RAM ratio at "1:1" (which is recommended from the performance point of view).

are u sure its temps? maybe just bump up the voltage? may sound kinda rude here, im not trying to be, but do u know how to overclock aside from just raising the FSB?
