I'm having a problem with my Intel wireless card (I assume) on my Toshiba Laptop.

I can connect fine and all that, but when I unplug the power from my router or cable modem (usually both at the same time, sometimes my internet goes down and I need to restart it), my laptop will lose the internet connection and and my laptop will become very slow, almost to the point of a lock up. At this point I have to force my laptop to shut down (hold down on the power button) and restart...The internet works fine after that (the power is now back to my modem and router)

Well, it makes sense that you lose your internet connection when the cable modem and router and unplugged, then plugged back in. The PC loses contact due to the dropped signal. When you disconnect the modem and router, you should close your browser first. Then when the modem and router are plugged back in, start up the browser again. Keep in mind, there's a certain amount of time required to "reset" these devices, so let them cycle for a minute or two before trying to connect again. Many PCs will do strange things when the main source of the internet connection just drops out inexplicably and unexpectedly like that, so I personally don't think it's a problem with your hardware or your drivers. But, if you have to unplug your internet gear on a regular basis (like over twice a month) then something isn't right and I'd be talking to the provider about either a line test or new gear...
